  • Should ISCET hold a symposium at ECEM 2024 (August 24-29, Ireland)? & ETRA 2024 (June 4-7, Glasgow)?
  • When should the next meeting be – both for the main group and for the survey study sub-group? Note that Robert Alexander has arranged a potential time slot for The Americas region at 14:00 EST on February 15th, but this doesn’t have to be used and could be deferred.

Funding

  • Currently, costs are low, but we can consider grant schemes (e.g., NIH, “improve diagnosis”) small funds if needed. 
  • Matt J Dunn will request funding for ISCET website hosting fee via his university.
  • The possibility of transitioning to a membership fee model was lightly discussed but deemed early at this stage.

  • A. Survey sub-Committee:

–       Led by Gemma Arblaster (g.arblaster@sheffield.ac.uk) as her initiative.

–       Ethical approval to be sought from Sheffield University (Gemma).

–       A GDPR-compliant Platforms for the survey, discussed: REDCap (suggested by Denize Atan; as it provides online consent  in addition to hosting anonymize data) or LimeSurvey, etc.

–       Current members: Denize (advisory), Matt J Dunn, Rasha S Moustafa,… Interested ISCET members encouraged to contact Debbie

–       Interview/ focus groups can follow as needed.

–       Suggestion to involve enthusiastic medical students or trainees for the analysis (if necessary)

  • B. ETRA 2024: sub-Committee. 

–       Aimed at presenting the society in this conference In Glasgow– UK, June 4-7, 2024

–       Deadline for submission of “Late-Breaking Work”, March 18, 2024:https://etra.acm.org/2024/

–       Led By Rasha S Moustafa and Matt J Dunn

–       Current Member: Frederick Shic (as advisor), Minoru Nakayama, … invitation extended to join.

Standards:

  • The survey is intended is to kickstart community, gather diverse answers, and contribute to setting standards.
  • Emphasis on involving different specialties, including ENT & Neuro.
  • Special attention to different speciality & sub-specialities considered in the guidelines. 
  • To be further discussed in subsequent meetings by the main group.

Closing Remarks:

  • Next meeting scheduled to delve deeper into standards and further discussions on community development. 
  • The sub-committees to arrange soon meetings for task achievement.

We are using LimeSurvey (www.limesurvey.org) running on our own Servers – free of charge. We have already performed some studies with more than 1000 participants each without any problems
