Details of Survey Working Group Meeting 6 (2025-11-19)

Chaired by Gemma Arblaster (University of Sheffield).

Introduction has been drafted – critical comments from the working group invited
Research questions have been drafted by FM, to be reviewed and finalised by GA considering previous extensive discussions, then checked by OA.
Working group to add any critical comments on these research questions before the next meeting.
GA to review survey content to ensure the research questions would be answered by the survey responses, then cross checked by OA

MD, FM, DG to work on categorisation of responses and analysis of the results
MD, FM, DG to look at whether there are sufficient free text responses to analyse, collate, possibly display graphically (wordcloud), or use example quotes to illustrate ‘themes’ or points. Agreed steps:
- DG to give data ‘first pass’
- DG with FM to come up with list of variables
- MD to code the data using these variables
- FM and DG to then check (and cross check) coding is correct – any discrepancies would be discussed and resolved
Then we would draft the results section – possibly using the research questions as subheadings. So agreed to wait until working group has commented on these (point 3 above) prior to structuring results.

Summary of research questions to be added by GA to ISCET forum (survey subcommittee)
Recording of meeting to be sent to Siyuan Chen to be uploaded to ISCET website
Continue using google docs for now – but then will generate Word document or LaTeX document (possibly using Overleaf) for the final version. Acknowledged frustration with google docs for some, but preference to keep everything together for now.
Reminder for the working group to leave comments on google docs with identifying name or to be signed in to google when commenting.
Action for wider ISCET group (possibly later) to discuss file format for future – RM to add this to wider ISCET agenda
